The Rev. Dr. John F. Maher, Jr.

John has served in ordained parish leadership since 1979 serving parishes in Pennsylvania,
Arizona, and Virginia.  He retired in 2022.  He has served as a supply priest in the Diocese of
Southern Virginia and the Diocese of Virginia since 2023.  He has been married to Carol for 49
years and they have two children, John and Sharon, and a grandson, Paxton.  His main area of
interest in parish ministry is discipleship. He has a bachelor’s degree from Kutztown
University in Speech and Theater (1974), a Master of Theology from General Theological
Seminary (1979), and a Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary (1992).  He loves
to read crime novels, play guitar, write worship songs, and especially spend time with family.
